Review: Guardians of the Galaxy #5 (Marvel)

Marvel Comics solicitation for Guardians of the Galaxy #5 reads: “On Knowhere, the Guardian's trans-dimensional headquarters, fear and mistrust boils to the surface as the mismatched team attempts to uncover the Skrull agents in their midst! Who can they trust? And if the answer is "no one", what does that say about the future of the Galaxy's toughest protectors?”

So yes, it is a “Secret Invasion” crossover. Secret Invasion, for those of you who aren’t paying attention, is the Grand Mal epic that details a worldwide Skrull incursion on the planet Earth. Since GotG takes place far, far away, it makes absolutely no sense at all why this title had to be a part of the x-over, but you get one anyway.
Yay!

I continue to enjoy this series despite this unnecessary interruption, however, we will have to wait until at least issue #7 to get back to the unfolding initial Guardians storyline that the SI-tie in has temporarily shoved off stage, because this issue ends with a cliffhanger.

Needless to say, the disparate Guardians are somewhat at odds over the goings on at Knowhere, and one of the cast members may be more than meets the eye. I won’t spoil the action for you, but I will say that the teams big bruiser, Drax, goes to an extreme measure to ferret out the Skrull infiltrators on board the station.
